VISCOSITY AT 75°F (24°C): 70-80 KU

AVERAGE DRY TIME 75°F (23° C):

Dries to touch in 2 hours. Faster dry times in temperatures over 75° degrees F, and slower dry times in temperatures cooler than 75° degrees F. You can re-coat with Super Bottom Protect marine epoxy primer with self in 2 hours to 48 hours. After 48 hours, you MUST sand with 80 grit sandpaper before re-coating with another coat of Super Bottom Protect Primer. When over-coating with anti-fouling, allow 2 hours minimum to 4 hours maximum. Faster dry times in temperatures over 75° degrees F, and slower dry times in temperatures cooler than 75° degrees F. After 4 hours, you MUST sand with 80 grit sandpaper before application of anti-fouling paint, or apply another coat of Super Bottom Protect Primer and overcoat with the appropriate anti-fouling paint within the 2-4 hour over coat window.

VERY IMPORTANT:

Application of anti-fouling over Super Bottom Protect Primer marine epoxy primer is critical. Anti-fouling may be applied directly over the marine paint by using the “thumb print” method. Touch the Super Bottom Protect Primer film with your thumb – if the paint does not get on your thumb, but is tacky and you can make a thumb print, you are properly in the “overcoat window.” You can then apply anti-fouling paint. If the paint gets on your thumb, it is too soon to recoat with anti-fouling paint. If you can’t leave a thumb print, you have missed the "overcoat window" & MUST sand with 80 grit sandpaper or apply another coat of the marine primer paint and then re-coat as above. For Vinyl anti-fouling overcoat times, contact us directly.

WHEN OVER-COATING SUPER BOTTOM PROTECT SEALER:

Apply Super Bottom Protect Sealer per label directions. Dries to touch in 5 hours. After last coat of Super Bottom Protect Sealer, wash surface thoroughly with fresh water, wait 12 hours minimum, sand surface with 80 grit paper, wipe surface with tack cloth, apply first coat of Super Bottom Protect Primer.

RECOMMENDED REDUCER: Reduce with a reducer as needed for proper flow and performance, 10% maximum.

RECOMMENDED CLEAN UP: Use a Reducer

RECOMMENDED FINISH: Ablative anti-foulings

SURFACE PREPARATION: BARE FIBERGLASS: Degrease by wiping with a rag soaked in a dewaxer. Sand with 80 grade (grit) paper. Remove sanding residue. Wipe with a dewaxer.

Over Super Bottom Protect PART A / PART B: Wash with soap and water. Rinse with fresh water and allow to dry. Sand with 80 grade (grit) paper. Remove sanding residue. Wipe with a dewaxer.

BARE METAL

Surface should be blasted to bright metal. Remove all blast or sanding residue using a clean air line and sweeping with a clean brush or broom. Vacuum clean for best results. Apply primer within 1 hour of metal preparation. If blasting is not possible (or if more than 2 hours has passed since blasting) sand or grind with coarse emery cloth and apply a dewaxer prior to Super Bottom Protect PART A / PART B.

APPLICATION

Apply enough Super Bottom Protect PART A / PART B to reach a final Dry Film Thickness of 10mils. This usually takes 4-5 coats but the amount of paint is more important than the number of coats.
